02.19.13Karma Class, 2/24 at 5:15 pm with Tina Vaughn
KARMA Class this Sunday, 2/24 at Lotus Yoga starts at 5:15 pm. Led by the awesome Tina Vaughn, this month's Karma Class will benefit Rikki Southworth, a 43 year old muse/mother/yogi, wife of artist Chip Southworth, who was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in October. Fighting uninsured, Rikki has undergone two surgeries and has at least one more, plus treatment and a medication regimen. Rikki prepared for her surgeries by increasing her yoga practice, eating a mostly vegan/raw diet and practicing regular meditation. After a double mastectomy just three weeks ago, she is in high spirits, energized by the love and support. She is humbled and appreciates any prayers and support. Please join us!

THE SESSIONS:
Friday, April 19, 6p to 8:00 - SNEAK ATTACK CORE
Let’s face it—core work is never fun—right? It might always burn, but a strong core is the key to a connected practice. This workshop finds creative and playful ways to access your core from the basics of vinyasa, playful floor work, pick-up + jump backs, balance work and pranayama. Before you know it you’ll be fully connected to your center with a smile on your face.
Saturday, April 20, 10a to noon - KEEP CALM AND BAKASANA ON
All hail to the King of Arm Balances! Crow Pose is an incredibly complex
posture that gives us the ultimate foundation to build balance on. We'll explore a plethora of variations and stepping blocks to fully understand how the body reacts in the pose. Once we understand the basics other arm balancing postures become simple. We'll awaken the core through practicing deep awareness and doing variations including Tripod, Handstand, One-Legged Crow, jumping forward, shooting back, and learning what to do when it's time to stick your tail-feather out. Just remember--when in doubt, keep calm and bakasana on.
Saturday, April 20, 2p to 4:00 - ALTIMETER CHECK - INVERSIONS
Everyone dreams of flying but fears the chance of a crash and burn. This workshop builds a strong foundation of strength in the mindset and physical body to break through preconceived notions of our abilities. We are gifted beyond our imagination, and this workshop will playful support and encourage your untapped potential to dance on your hands and see the world from a different view. Drop fear and step forward with a smile on your face and love in your heart and you'll already be lighter and ready to flip it around. Great for baby birds and seasoned fliers, just come open to being challenged with the most playful of ways!
Sunday, April 21, 9a to 11:00 - CHOOSE ONLY LOVE
Everything we do stems from a place of love and often all we need is a little reminder to get us back on that track. Backbends are the ultimate ticket to look fear in the face and react straight from our heart center. This love inducing flow will open your heart and shoulders preparing you for deeper backbends to remind you that anything is possible when we surrender. Once the heart soars the possibilities are endless!
