CLASSED OFFERED:
SUN VINYASA PRACTICE (60 to 75 minutes)
This intermediate to athletic vinyasa flow practice welcomes students from beginners to advanced levels. Variations for poses will be offered to accommodate students of all levels of experience. This practice will build strength and endurance while increasing flexibility, mental focus and overall radiant health. Each practice will incorporate a short meditation and a time of relaxation.
MOON VINYASA PRACTICE (60 to 75 minutes)
This vinyasa flow practice offers a more gentle, slower-paced class for students of all ages, sizes and fitness levels. Variations for poses will be offered to accommodate students of varying levels of experience. This class may also be appropriate for pregnant women (suitable modifications will be offered) and is an excellent introduction to yoga for beginners or for experienced practitioners seeking a “cooling” practice. The practice will encourage proper breathing, quiet reflection and deep relaxation. (For the heated version of this practice, the room will be warmed to 85 degrees.)
SUN & MOON VINYASA PRACTICE (75 minutes)
This class begins by flowing gracefully through a series of Sun Salutations with emphasis on movement with breath to warm-up the body, then transitions into a challenging standing sequence with focus on mindfulness, balance and strength. Midway through the class, the practice peeks and begins to slow towards a more gentle practice. The Moon part of the class allows the body to soften and become more receptive to increasing flexibility levels while keeping the mind peaceful and calm. This style of class is great for all levels. Modifications and variations will be offered to beginners as well as advanced practitioners.
MODIFIED ASHTANGA (75 to 90 minutes)
Honoring the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, our beloved Guruji, this class provides an introduction to the primary series of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga. Ashtanga Yoga combines yoga postures (asana) with mindful breathing (ujjayi pranayama), energetic muscular locks (bandhas) and drishti (focused gazing points), to create a meditation of movement on the mat. The intelligence behind the Ashtanga asana sequencing is designed to detoxify the body, to balance the nervous system, to enhance strength, health and flexibility of the body, and to bring clarity, calm, peace and happiness to the mind. Six months of regular yoga practice recommended.
RESTORATIVE CHAIR YOGA (60 minutes)
Our chair yoga class is designed to allow everyone to participate in a very gentle form of yoga. For those who may suffer from joint stiffness, arthritis or inflammation, have limited range of motion due to trauma or illness, or have difficulty getting up from and down to the floor, this class will assist students in safely and comfortably gaining strength, increasing flexibility, balance, mental focus, improving circulation and lowering stress levels. We will also focus on and encourage proper breathing, quiet reflection and relaxation.
YOGA FOR LUNCH (45 minutes) by Appointment Only
This lunch-time class will be shortened to accommodate students practicing on their lunch hours. The class will provide a full body/mind vinyasa practice, incorporating a series of flowing poses to strengthen and maintain healthy flexibility in the neck, back and spine.
